Just spotted that Digital Prawn left a comment on
this post this morning mentioning that the 2008 edition of the
CSS Crap Game Compo has finished. There were over 100 entries (without mine - I managed
again to not complete my game for the third year running), with the results being announced next Saturday. Good stuff.

No, no ZX 48K beeper releases this time.
FreshBEEP is Gasman's new web portal which should gather new game releases for the ZX Spectrum. It's highlighing all the new
WoS game additions. As Gasman says on his
blog:
FreshBEEP is my answer to a pressing problem on the Spectrum scene: people are releasing new games all the time, but they’re being overlooked due to a lack of a prominent central place to announce them. So, go
look there.

Well, this article could be taken as a little self-promo, and even commercial, but it is worth to mention it here. A new Spectrum 128 game called
Thieves Shool has been released by
World XXI Soft Inc. It's a multiplayer arcade platform game with many cool features (and AY music by Factor6). It has very professional look, story, etc. The game is not free but worth of trying. The demo version of the game is being prepared at the moment as well as distribution on a classic cassette tape with printed inlay.

Very quick pointer to an article on
Rock, Paper, Shotgun about the ZX game
Where Time Stood Still. Well, the ZX version is mentioned, at least.
Real news will commence sometime. Honest.

It's been a long time (years!) since I last mentioned an update over at the
Tipshop, so mention is long overdue. Besides, I was reminded of it recently by finding my copy of the fabulous YS Tipshop Tiptionary - see, moving home does have it's benefits... ones that don't even involve massive debt. Where was I? Oh yes, the Tipshop has been
updated. 'Nuff said.

Just a little update on my previous mention of the
ZX Games Bible book project -
Book 2 is now available, covering 1985 and 1986. I'm just off to order the first book, and I suggest you do the same. Groovy.

Look at the little "matt.west.co.tt" block over on the left there and you'll spy an entry titled
Comet Chaos - it's young Mr. Gasmans attempt at a multiplayer version of ZX favourite
Chaos. The reason behind it is another "toy-with-technology" thing, and it's currently in a fairly... "simple" state. I've not tried it - I only just spotted it during a quick lunchtime surf - but who knows. Chaos is a great game, and people have been wanting a true multiplayer version for ages. Nice.
