No before you ask, this isn't a contest for music that takes up 48k of memory (imagine a SQTracker module that big!?). It's actually a contest being run by
Mister Beep. The aim is to find the best Beeper-music from Spectrum and Timex games. I already have a few favourites, tho' knowing my musical ear they're actually just badly-written AY tunes. Hehe.
Below you can read the full info on the competition, and you can download the votepack
here.
***The best GAME-MUSIC for SPECTRUM/TIMEX 48Kb??????***
A contest by MISTER BEEP (2006).
Send this info to all your friends interested in ZX Spectrum / Timex!
An archive downloadable here: 48contes.zip
contains the RULES.TXT file, AY-EMUL and *.YM files with game-musix.
The idea is to vote for *the best BEEPER music* from Spectrum/Timex games.
There is a number of *.AY files containing songs from 48Kb games in this
ZIP archive. Various music-engines, various numbers of channels, various
envelopes, samples sometimes...
You can find many great composers here, like Tim Follin, Special Erase,
David Whittaker and also superb tunes with unknown authors (what a pity!).
You can give from 100 points to 0 points (just skip any songs that you
don't like at all) for the tunes. (You can't give two or more songs the
same number of points!).
You can listen to songs using AY-EMUL (included in the ZIP archive). But
note that several *.AY files contain not only BEEPER but also AY songs, and
additionally sometimes (mostly?) the AY songs are at the beginning of the
*.AY playlist - so if you hear that the music is AY song, not BEEPER, you
have to press FORWARD to find BEEPER songs (often they are at the end of
the playlist).
But the most convenient way is:
1) start AY-EMUL,
2) press PL button (on the right hand side) - it's a PLAYLIST. Here you
will see where the required BEEPER/48Kb song is, and can simply choose it
using the mouse. When you load the next *.AY file, the playlist will update
instantly, so simply
3) watch the playlist all the time.
It would be the easiest way.
Many games had not only one, but several songs, so we vote for all BEEPER
songs from one game of course.
Write in your points (below) and send the completed votesheet to
mister_beep@op.pl
Note that sometimes the author is unknown (sadly).
***********The deadline is the 1st of April 2006***********
The list (order of titles below is exactly the same as the *.AY files
arranged by NAME).
Put your points here, by the titles:
